New Year’s Resolutions

Category | Fun Stuff, People Motivation

There are various claims to why we make resolutions at the start of a New Year but whatever the reason, we still do it! The New Year gives us the opportunity to evaluate our lives and start afresh in the hope that we can make improvements for a better future. The most popular resolutions each year are:

Lose Weight
Not very surprising this one. We spend most of the Christmas period up to New Year eating and drinking to excess so by the time 1st January comes around, we probably all feel like we could lose a few pounds.

Be Happy
The start of a new year makes us reflect on everything that has happened during the previous 12 months and we will all have had a few bad days. A New Year allows us to wipe the slate clean and start afresh with a positive attitude.

Find Love
For those people who haven’t found that someone special yet, a brand new year gives hope that this will be the year to find true love.

Employment
Whether that means getting a job for the first time or getting a new job, the New Year gives us the chance to put our lives in order and make things better for the future.

Travel
Many people would love the opportunity to travel, to see new places and meet new people, to broaden their horizons and the New Year is the perfect time to make plans to achieve exactly this.

Quit Smoking
The New Year is by far the most popular time of year for people to try to stop smoking. Too many parties over the festive season can give you just the push you need to cut the weed.

Volunteering
Christmas time has a habit of making us all more aware of everything we have and how there are people who aren’t as lucky as ourselves. Helping out a charity or good cause is one way of tipping the balance a little.

Save Money
As the New Year kicks in and the credit card bill falls through the letterbox after excessive spending at Christmas, saving money is always a firm favourite on our list of resolutions.
